Creative, Not Crazy

Updated: Nov 24, 2019

I wrote this brief article a while ago, yet didn't publish it because I know it is a little controversial. In fact, the dissertation I wrote for my doctorate exam was on the same subject, it is obviously a lot more in depth. I wrote it because I feel so passionately about this subject. Society seems to have an opinion of people, who tend not to remain too long in one place or thing. Apparently they lack focus, order, and direction, they seem fickle, unstable, unreliable and sometimes even crazy or weird. This I know, because I am one of them. I am one of these very creative sorts, and I know how I have been often judged and categorised because of the way I am, and how I do things.

I truly believe that individuals who have been diagnosed with ADHD, and other types of the alleged 'disorders' like it, that are so common these days, are extremely creative types who are aligned with the flow of their Soul, in a world that has not yet fully learnt to nurture and function that way. These people are the ones who are fully aligned with their true power, they feel the urges of their Soul, they the ones in tune with the dynamic drive of the creative energy that flows through them, urging them toward more, inspiring them toward more movement, more expression, more freedom, more expansion.

However, the the confusion and the conflict begins for these creative geniuses when the tug of war begins between the urge of their dynamic creativity, and the demands of the outer world expectations, which often feels like being handcuffed, or contained in a prison cell in a lot of cases. I have felt like this in many situations in my life, trying to conform to the expectations of the places, people and systems around me. When you are creative, your inner being and Soul is driving you toward more, yet the world is holding you back because of societal conditions and expectations.

These people are not disordered, they are not disabled, they are not unstable and they are certainly not crazy! On the contrary they are alive, they are dynamic, they are inspired and they are aligned. It is time to stop judging and labelling. These people are more normal than you could ever imagine!

We were born for expansion, all of us, and our purpose which fulfills that expansion is creativity in all its diverse and life giving forms. Creativity doesn't happen when you are stuck in one place, one thing, one job, one goal. We were meant for more, we were meant to grow, we were meant to create, we were meant to desire more, for it is those desires which bring expansion to life, that bring the evolution of our Soul.

I do not see it as commendable to go forth into life, on a mission to create the ultimate stability, stuck in the same place and time with the same ideas and ideals, although many do. Think about it, how free are you really in your ideal of stability? How free are you when you are simply conforming to be accepted? How free are you really when your goal is to be accepted, and revered by others around you? How free are you really?

Think about it!

Until next time, be realistic & daydream often.
