So, What is it you Really Want?

I have been reflecting a lot lately on people and our problems, and on how many of us seem to experience the same type of problems again and again. They may show up with different symptomatic responses, however at the root they always seem to be coming from the same source. I have seen it time and time again in my practice as a metaphysical counsellor, and as a therapeutic yoga teacher with my clients and students, and certainly last but not least in my own life experience which has been the best teacher of all.
I have come to the educated conclusion that every problem you are facing is simply the manifested result of you not lining up with who you really are. So what does that mean exactly? Well when you are not aligned with who you really are it means you spend your time living to please others, following the system and 'the norm', doing what you are told and doing what is expected of you without intellectually, or even emotionally questioning questioning why, and if it even lines up with what is true to you and your own personal values. You do what you are expected to do, doing what you think will get you the recognition, the credibility and the approval you think you are longing for, all from sources outside of yourself.
Time after time you literally turn away from YOU, from WHO YOU ARE, from WHAT YOU WANT, from WHAT YOU DESIRE and from what YOU LONG FOR, either because of fear of failure, or because you prefer to trade it in for false feelings of safety, security and approval from sources, people, systems outside of yourself day in and day out, over and over again.
You literally live a life based on fear that if you don't do the thing or take the action, to get the result that will bring you the money to pay the bills for the house, the car, the stuff that makes you appear oh so accomplished, oh so successful, oh so a somebody, then it will all just fall apart, then who will you be? What will you stand for?
And so as a result you turn to all kinds of stuff to numb yourself from the pain of you ignoring yourself, who you really are, and what is longing to come out, by eating drinking, smoking, gambling, shopping, sex, drugs whether prescription, legal or illegal and all kinds of sensory stuff to help numb out the painful reality of the void inside.....anything and everything you can think of to help you ignore and distract yourself from truly listening to call of your inner soul urging you to 'just come this way, come on this way, why not just come this way?'
So what does it mean to align with who you really are? It first means you stop living according to the norm, in an intellectually lazy way, trying to please the others, the system and sheepishly following what is expected of you, and you start living your life according to what it is you truly desire, and in accordance with the you that you are, and what needs to be expressed according to that. You unleash the you that was born to be expressed fully standing in YOUR truth, YOUR integrity and according to YOUR sense of purpose.
So how do you know that you are living in alignment?
When you are truly aligned with who you are and are living it you feel genuinely joyful, satisfied, fulfilled, alive, in the flow, creative, passionate and happy.
How do you get into alignment?
Well it starts with you letting go of being afraid of being you. It means that you trust yourself, you love yourself, you stand in feelings of self worth, and it means that you truly follow your own heart first. You listen to your dreams, you heed your desires, you believe that you can have the things you want, and that you are worthy and deserving of it, no matter what anyone else thinks or how they feel about it.
When you are in alignment you know it is okay to daydream about what you really want without shunning it, and you know wholeheartedly that you do not have to settle for what is if it does not make your heart sing. When you are aligned with the Soul of you, you know that you can change your life now, you can create a new version of you, and that it is possible no matter what path you have walked before. Knowing this, accepting it, and believing it is the first step to you beginning to line up with who you really are, and as a result connecting with the most creative, evolving, flowing part of you that is longing for you to listen it. When you do you will start to follow it on the path to your expansion, your growth, your evolution, your change, your transformation, your metamorphosis.
Life is meant to be expansive and flowing, and when you are not growing you are stagnant and stuck. It is at this point that you start looking for all the external validators in your life to fulfil your sense of purpose and satisfaction. But that is all wrong, you will never find it that way, you will never feel the relief from the temporary pain numbers, the addictions, and all the half assed distractions you keep turning to to give you some sense of relief, validation, belonging to something.
I say what I do now in this the way I do because I know, I have been there lived it, breathed it, got the tattoo, sent the postcard and got the T-shirt to boot! I have been there and done it, the lot. I have had the addictions, lived in the distraction, numbed the pain, felt the void, the misery, the depression and desperation of me time and time again abandoning who I am, my dreams, my desires and most of all ignoring the call of my inner soul calling me toward what truly fulfils me, what truly bring me to life and what truly makes my soul sing, and this si why I am writing this now, because writing the way I do, and sharing it with you is part of that. It is me lining up with who I really and expressing the deepest most authentic part of me, my Soul flow outwardly to you.
So I challenge you to ask yourself now, what is it that truly makes your heart sing? What is it that you are hungry for in your life? What are the parts of you that are longing to be unleashed, heard and expressed outwardly? What is it that you truly desire to be do or have? And while you consider the questions above, remember that the only one who is standing in the way of you living your dreams and accepting who you really are you you, not them, not the system, not the job, not the media, not anything or anyone else but you. All the others are just excuses to keep distracting yourself from taking the leap into being you fully, truly and wholeheartedly.
I used to be afraid of who I was, what if they didn't like me, or accept me, or believe what I say? What if they think I am weird, and too much and too out there? I genuinely felt scared of myself, but now as I have learnt to align with who I am and express my truth outwardly in many different ways in my life, and seen how things have drastically improved in all areas as a result, I am just plain scared not to.
I hope this inspires you in some way to love and accept yourself more, and until next time, don;t forget to be realistic and daydream often, for it is the beginning of all your creative power coming to life to manifest outwardly into your life!
With love,
Ashleigh xo
